Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer and Help Documentation Specialist who will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for our marketing software platform. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in technical writing within the marketing software industry, preferably with products similar to Experiture. You will work closely with our product development, engineering, and customer success teams to produce high-quality documentation that enhances the user experience and supports our clients in achieving their marketing goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

Documentation Development

  • Create and Maintain User Manuals
    • Develop comprehensive user guides, manuals, and online help documentation for our software platform.
    • Update documentation regularly to reflect new features, updates, and enhancements.
  • Develop Tutorials and How-To Guides
    • Produce step-by-step tutorials, quick-start guides, and best practice documents to assist users in leveraging the platform effectively.
    • Create content that caters to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Online Help and Knowledge Base Management
    • Manage and update the online help system and knowledge base.
    • Ensure that help content is easily accessible, searchable, and organized logically.

Content Creation

  • Technical Writing
    • Write clear, concise, and accurate technical content that simplifies complex concepts.
    • Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and branding across all documentation.
  • Visual Content
    • Create diagrams, screenshots, and other visual aids to enhance understanding.
    • Collaborate with designers to produce videos or interactive tutorials if needed.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with product managers, developers, and QA teams to understand product features and functionalities.
    • Participate in product meetings and sprint reviews to stay informed about upcoming changes.
  • User Feedback Integration
    • Gather feedback from users, customer support, and sales teams to identify documentation needs and areas for improvement.
    • Incorporate feedback into documentation updates to enhance user satisfaction.

Quality Assurance

  • Review and Editing
    • Proofread and edit documentation for clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
    • Ensure all content meets high-quality standards and aligns with company guidelines.
  • Documentation Standards
    • Develop and maintain documentation templates and style guides.
    • Implement best practices for technical writing and content organization.

Tools and Technology

  • Documentation Tools
    • Utilize industry-standard tools for documentation creation and management (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, Confluence).
    • Leverage content management systems and version control tools (e.g., Git) as needed.
  • SEO and Accessibility
    • Optimize online content for search engines to improve discoverability.
    • Ensure documentation is accessible to users with disabilities, following accessibility guidelines.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience

  • Technical Writing Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the marketing software or SaaS industry.
    • Proven experience in creating documentation for marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, or similar software.
  • Marketing Software Knowledge
    • Deep understanding of marketing software platforms similar to Experiture (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
    • Familiarity with marketing automation, email marketing, customer segmentation, and campaign management concepts.

Technical Skills

  • Writing and Editing
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    • Ability to explain complex technical information in simple, clear language.
  • Documentation Tools Proficiency
    • Experience with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, Microsoft Word, and content management systems.
    • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web technologies.
  • Graphic and Multimedia Skills
    • Ability to create and edit images, diagrams, and possibly videos using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Camtasia.
  • Technical Acumen
    • Understanding of software development processes and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
    • Ability to read and comprehend technical specifications and API documentation.
